Cedro Island (Ilha do Cedro) is a beautiful island located in the Paraty region of the state of Rio de Janeiro. Situated in Paraty Bay, the island is known for its paradisiacal beaches, lush vegetation, and crystal-clear waters.
Cedro Island is one of several islands in the region that attract sailors seeking tranquility and contact with nature. Its beaches are surrounded by preserved Atlantic Forest, providing a natural and untouched environment. The dense vegetation also offers trails and hikes for visitors to explore.
The island is uninhabited, but there are some restaurant options to cater to visitors. Bar do Nelson is one of them, right on the sand, serving seafood and drinks; the most popular is the Astronauta. If you prefer, it’s possible to buy fresh fish of the day and prepare it on board.
In addition to enjoying the beaches and nature, those who visit Cedro Island can practice activities such as diving and stand-up paddleboarding.
Cedro Island has two beaches with clear waters, and the view of the mainland is beautiful, with São Gonçalo beach in front of the Serra do Mar mountains. There is a welcoming beach approximately 50 meters long, offering crystal-clear waters, white sand, and a tranquil atmosphere. Take the opportunity to relax, swim, or simply admire the natural beauty around you.
Cedro Island also has a trail (5 minutes) that leads to another beach, which seems private.
It’s also a suitable place for anchoring and overnight stays. One of the anchorages, on the north side of the island, is in a kind of mini-bay, with a small island in the background practically closing off the anchorage.
To reach Cedro Island, a boat from Paraty is necessary.
